Hotel Tronador in 1935 |
In
the year 1912 Benito Vereertbrugghen, our grandfather,
of Belgian origin, the son of a well known medical pioneer
who worked in Bariloche and the surrounding rural zone,
settled in the "Valle de los Vuriloche" on the edge of
Lake Mascardi and began a cattle business.
With the arrival of the first tourists to the area in 1929,
he extended his house, thus creating a hotel which
could cater for up to 10 guests.
In 1933 the original hotel was destroyed by fire, and a
new building was constructed on a more suitable site, where
it stands today.
In 1959 our parents José Benito and Beatriz continue
with the family hotel business starting a new phase of remodeling
the hotel and updating its facilities to keep the pace with
the new tourist standards.
In the early 1980s the younger generation joins the family
hotel business starting with new activities, specially
those oriented to adventure tourism and reorganizing the hotel
services in order to improve them.

The hotel has a privileged site, in the Nahuel Huapi National
Park. The surroundings are extraordinarily beautiful,
with sizable lakes, rivers, waterfalls and mountains.
This paradise for the tourist is ideal for fishing, adventure
tourism and peaceful relaxation.
The Tronador Hotel is 60 km (37 miles) from downtown Bariloche
and 25 km (15 miles) from Mount Tronador, which at 3554
m. (approx. 11000') above sea level, is the highest point
in the National Park.
